Earth Day is Tuesday, April 22. On this international observance of environmental protection and climate action, ARTPORTAL (1512 Portland Ave.) will welcome a marketplace of ecoconscious small businesses as well as yoga instruction.
Tickets for the all-ages celebration are $10 in advance and $15 at the door. The ticket price includes a yoga class. In addition to the vendors market and yoga class, there will also be a clothing swap and a menu of springtime cocktails. The event is from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
The vendor market will include vintage clothing from The Groovy Aura; fashion and accessories from Barret Babes; tarot readings by Barret Babes; handmade jewelry from Sunblind by Corie Brangers; embroidered wearables from A Stitching Witch; apparel, accessories, and gifts from The Tree Boutique; fashion by Ware Nectar; and books from Set & Setting, the self-described “teeny tiny brick and mortar” bookstore.
Originally proposed by peace activist John McConnell at a UNESCO conference in San Francisco in 1969, Earth Day was sanctioned by the United Nations in 1970 and became an international observance in 1990. By its 50th anniversary in 2020, more than 100 million people across 192 countries celebrated Earth Day in a multi-platform online event.
Louisvillians can invest in our planet by shopping local, eliminating single-use plastics, using reusable packing materials and bags, and, of course, shopping locally from independently owned and operated businesses. Earth Day at ARTPORTAL brings all of that movement into one space
