New York Times-bestselling author Ashley C. Ford will be stopping by the Floyd County Library as part of the Indiana Authors Awards tour tonight, April 12.

Ford had spent several years living in New York City, but relocated “back home again” to Indiana in 2020. The Homecoming Tour will celebrate Ford as a writer, host, educator and social media celebrity. The event will put her in conversation with local moderators about her experiences as an author from Indiana. 

This event is free for all ages. However, seating is limited, and registration is required. Register online here.

“From her childhood in Fort Wayne to college days at Ball State to writing for worldwide outlets in New York City and back again to Indianapolis where she now lives and works, Ford brings with her both local interest and national acclaim. Telling the story of her relationship with her incarcerated father, Ford’s debut memoir, ‘Somebody’s Daughter’, explores themes of childhood, family, race, body image, education and home.”

“Somebody’s Daughter” is the April choice for the “More Perfect Union” book discussion. You can pick up a free copy of the book (to keep!) if you’re interested in joining forth one of the discussions. These are being held Thursday, April 7 at 6 p.m. or Thursday, April 28 at 6 p.m. both at the Floyd County Library. 

The Indiana Authors Awards Tour is a statewide speaking tour, featuring a prominent Hoosier author in conversation with local writers and thought leaders. With the goals of both highlighting Indiana’s national literary status and inspiring more residents to take up the pen and write, the Indiana Authors Awards Tour brings prominent writers to a community near you.

Ford will be joined at the Floyd County Library by poet Mitchell L.H. Douglas. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.
