Louisville Clay is presenting a ceramics workshop with Seth Payne on Friday and Saturday, May 22-23, from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. both days. It’s free and takes place at the U of L HPES/Studio Arts Bldg., 234 S. Floyd St. Contact Dolita Dohrman at 749-1513 for more details.

Glassworks (www.louisvilleglassworks.com) is holding a marble tournament on Saturday, May 23. Registration begins at 10 a.m. It’s free, open to all ages and is part of the “360 Degrees, the Spherical Mile” exhibition.

Preservation Louisville and Historic Locust Grove are co-sponsoring “Caring for your Antiques” with speaker Lynn Renau on Saturday, May 30 at 10 a.m. Historic Locust Grove is at 561 Blankenbaker Lane. Cost is $10 in advance/$15 at the door. Call Locust Grove at 897-9845 to register.

The Louisville Visual Art Association is hosting “Paint-Out!,” a day of outdoor painting and drawing, on Sunday, May 31. The event includes prizes as well as exhibition and selling opportunities. Fee: $50. Register at www.louisvillevisualart.org or 896-2146 ext. 100. “Paint-Out!” also offers an outdoor oil painting workshop with Debra Huse June 1-3 for $325.

The May issue of Popular Photography (www.popphoto.com) recently ranked the top 30 most photo-friendly cities, and Louisville is No. 4 (behind Denver, San Francisco and Austin).

 

Call for art:

The ArtCartel (www.theartcartel.org) is looking for art for its upcoming exhibition “Dreams: A Journey Within.” The art must be on the theme of dreams. Deadline: June 14. E-mail submissions to artcartel@hotmail.com. In the subject, include title of the exhibition. In the body include title, dimensions and medium. Attach no more than three photos of your piece.
