Actors Theatre of Louisville

Main Street is once again plagued by the spirits of Christmas past, present, and future.

A Christmas Carol will make a comeback to the stage at Actors Theatre of Louisville from December 4–21 in the Pamela Brown Auditorium.

Actorstheatre.org is currently selling tickets, which start at $30.

Dickens’ timeless story filled the theater with warmth and wonder for decades, making the play a vital Louisville holiday rite. The program is now back, reimagined but firmly anchored in the version that generations of families grew up with.

“People have told us they remember coming to this show with their grandparents, bringing their kids, making it part of their annual ritual,” said Artistic Director Amelia Acosta Powell. “We’re thrilled to bring it back in a way that reflects those memories while inviting a new generation to fall in love with it, too.”

This year’s production is adapted by Lavina Jadhwani and co-directed by Amelia Acosta Powell and Emily Tarquin. It preserves the story’s central themes while infusing it with fresh theatrical energy and magic.

The story, which is based on the classic by Charles Dickens, chronicles Ebenezer Scrooge’s transformation from a heartless miser to a kindhearted philanthropist following visits from the Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present and Future.
