5 Things To Do This Weekend in Louisville (10/14)

FRIDAY

You’re The Wurst — Sausage Party Copper and Kings $10  |  7 p.m. Enjoy the flavors of Germany at this Oktoberfest-style party featuring handmade sausages and other German-inspired foods, Marzen/Oktoberfest style beers by Monnik Beer Co. and live music by The Prost Band and DJ Kim Sorise (who will be spinning Polka and Krautrock all night long).

Jack-O-Lantern Spectacular Iroquois Park $12-$15  |  7 p.m. Get yourself in the Halloween spirit with a delightfully spooky walk on this quarter-mile walking trail through Iroquois Park. Wait until dusk when the entire trail will be illuminated by 5,000 carved pumpkins (look out for the LEO-O-Lantern!). Proceeds go to Louisville Metro Parks Foundation.

SATURDAY

What the Germantown? Festival Germantown Free  |  4 p.m. Explore all that the Germantown neighborhood has to offer this weekend at this festival where five of everyone's favorite Germantown bars will be hosting drink specials and live music: Hot Brown Smackdown at The Post; Joann + The Dakota and Bad Day Baby at Four Pegs; Curio Key Club at Nachbar; and Shiny Criminals, Adventure and Rumblestrips at Kaiju. And if you make a purchase at four of the five bars, you get a free What The Germantown Festival T-shirt to prove that you survived.

NBA Preseason Game: Minnesota Timberwolves vs. Miami Heat KFC Yum! Center $10-$85  |  6:30 p.m. The NBA is coming back to Louisville for the third year in a row with a matchup between the Miami Heat and Minnesota Timberwolves. A game that will have both UofL and UK fans cheering for the same team since Gorgui Dieng (from UofL) and Karl-Anthony Towns (from UK) are both playing for the Minnesota Timberwolves.

SUNDAY

Wanderlust 108 Waterfront Park $40  |  7:30 a.m. Wanderlust 108 is a triathlon “for your mind, body and soul.” There will be a 5K run/walk, about an hour of yoga flow with live music by a DJ and 30-minutes of guided meditation. In addition to the main events, there will also be a Kula Market filled with funky, local crafts and delicious organic foods, AiReal yoga, acroyoga, hooping, slacklining and tribal marking.
