SATURDAY, May 14

9th Annual How-To Festival Main Library Free  |  10 a.m.-3 p.m. Come learn how to grow vegetables, keep bees and be a circus performer at this year’s How-To Festival. There will be some old favorites like how to brew beer or grow tomatoes along with new lessons in making dog treats, creating digital music and modern dance. If you’ve wanted to learn something new, this is the one-stop shop for finding a new hobby or possibly a new career.  For a full schedule of the 71 sessions, go here.

International Food Truck Festival Big Four Lawn No cover  |  11 a.m.-10 p.m. Eighteen food trucks will be parked along Big Four Lawn this Saturday, selling cuisine from around the world. The entertainment will be just as diverse, with performances from K-Pop outfit Duskndawn, the Louisville Chinese Christian Church Dance Group and more.

Schnitzelburg Spring Walk ’22 Schnitzelburg neighborhood No cover  |  11 a.m. One of the season’s local gem events, the Schnitzelburg Walk returns, and the bars will be packed and live music will be plentiful. From 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., the Flea Off Market will take place outside of Monnik Beer Co. From 6-11 p.m., Monnik will host live music, with performances from Beware the Images, Darlington Pairs, Future Fossils, Kinni Moon and The Golden Whip. Starting at 5 p.m., The Merryweather will also host a stage, with performances from Magic Domdi, King Kong, Rude Weirdo, Cereal Glyphs, The Archaeas and The Ego Trippers. And, in a historic neighborhood with plenty of historic bars, you can bet there will be a lot more action to find. 

SUNDAY, May 15

Bluegrass PugFest Kentucky Exposition Center $4-$8  |  10 a.m.-4 p.m. Louisville is now the home of Bluegrass PugFest, a festival devoted to pugs that started in Milwaukee. Pug lovers Rick and Debbie Kopaczewski founded the festival and have moved it with them to Kentucky, their new home. Thousands of dogs will fill the West Hall at the Expo Center for two days (Saturday and Sunday) of pug-centric contests, educational sessions, vendors and more. Pugs may be the prized breed, but all dogs are welcome as long as they’re well-behaved and up-to-date on their vaccinations.

Southern Indiana Renaissance Faire Birdsell Castle, Charlestown, Indiana $7.50-$55  |  10 a.m.-6 p.m. There’s a new renaissance festival in town, and it’s being held at the perfect location: The renovated Birdsell Castle in Charlestown. Don your best medieval threads and get ready to watch jousting, magic, sword swallowing and live music while swinging a tumbler of mead or ale. The Faire runs Saturday and Sunday two weekends in a row.
