FRIDAY

A Family Affair  Copper and Kings Suggested Donation $10; 5:30 p.m. Time to start the weekend off right with an event that has it all. Live music by King Kong, coffee from Heine Brothers, food by Creation Gardens and prepared by The Mayan Cafe, beer by Against The Grain Brewery and soda by Butchertown Soda. All the proceeds from this Louisville-centric event are going to the Family Scholar House, whose mission is to “end the cycle of poverty.”—Ethan Smith

Quiet Hollers  Haymarket $7; 8 p.m. Quiet Hollers just released a fantastic new self-titled record that expands beyond their debut and sees them limiting themselves less and throwing the rules out the window more. The rootsy Americana is still there, but now it’s only one component of a more expansive machine.—Scott Recker

SATURDAY

Cheers for Local Beers Food Drive  Mellow Mushroom (Highlands) Free; 2 p.m. With a certain food-centric holiday around the corner, Dare to Care Food Bank is making sure nobody spends this Thanksgiving hungry. Flat12 Bierwerks, West Sixth Brewing and Goodwood Brewing will all be chipping in some delicious libations for this local food drive. Just bring a few non-perishable food items and some cash for this great cause.—Ethan Smith

Villebillies with Elephant Room, Vice Tricks, Tunesmiths  Headliners $10; 7 p.m. The band likes to lay down some jazz-infused beats and a signature lyrical flow, but they can also switch it up and dive straight into rock with guitars and sometimes even a banjo. They ride the line between two worlds, which many Louisvillians (who live in a progressive city and a conservative state) can relate to.—Ethan Smith

SUNDAY Christmas at the Galt House
Galt House $15; Through Dec. 27 I know, I know. Christmas is a long way away, and we haven’t even celebrated our national day of overeating yet. But dammit, sometimes I like to pretend I live in a winter wonderland filled with mythical creatures and a jolly old man who gives me free stuff. So if you’re a deranged holiday lover like myself, spend a lazy Sunday at the Galt House walking through their extensive, immersive Winter WonderLane Christmas decorations.—Ethan Smith
