After Hours at the Speed is back to in-person! | Via Facebook/Speed Art Museum

FRIDAY, Oct. 15

After Hours at the Speed (Halloween Edition) Speed Art Museum Prices vary  |  5-10 p.m. There are two things worth celebrating at this special After Hours at the Speed: It’s the second in-person one since the pandemic and it will revolve around the museum’s Supernatural America exhibit! Activities include tarot card readings, an aura-related art making activity, tours of the Supernatural America exhibit, immersive art from Poetry Is: A Sound Experience and a screening of “Scorpio Rising” at the Speed Cinema. 

13th Annual Victorian Ghost Walk in Historic Old Louisville The Conrad-Caldwell House Museum $30  | 6-9 p.m. This famous ghost walk is back for a limited time! Local author David Domine created this tour to show off Old Louisville’s haunted history. Actors portray the figures whose spirits now (allegedly) roam some of Louisville’s oldest buildings. You’ll hear the stories of people like duPont Manual High School’s namesake, Alfred Victor duPont, who was shot to death by a pregnant madam, and Simon Kracht, the “resurrectionist” grave digger who un-buried dead bodies for medical students at UofL. Expect some spooky startles along the way from scare actors on the tour route. This specialty tour runs Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

SATURDAY, Oct. 16

13th Annual Via Colori Street Painting Festival Big Four Lawn Free  |  10 a.m.-6 p.m. Over 100 artists will participate in the Via Colori festival this Saturday, painting Louisville’s sidewalks to do so. Watch them in action and take in a plethora of other family-friendly and nerdy activities, including live music on two stages, vendors, obstacle courses, face painting, superhero photo-ops, live action Mario Kart racing, STEM activities, VEX robotics, bounce houses, a food court, street performers, cosplayers, a life-size TARDIS and “Star Wars” light saber workshops. Oh, and it all supports the Girl Scouts of Kentuckiana. 

Pumpkin Festival Sunny Acres Farm $5  |  Noon-6 p.m. The annual Sunny Acres Farm Pumpkin Festival is this Saturday and Sunday. Check out this hidden farm southeast of Jeffersontown for pumpkin picking, vendors and food — including Jericho Farmhouse’s famous ice cream.

SUNDAY, Oct. 17

Filipino American Heritage Picnic EP “Tom” Sawyer State Park Free  |  1 p.m. The Asia Institute-Crane House is hosting its first Filipino American Heritage Picnic. Come for good, authentic food (it’s a potluck, so bring your own if you can), folk dance performances and more.
