SATURDAY

Midnights at Baxter: ‘The Thing’ Baxter Avenue Theater 11:55 p.m. “The Thing” by John Carpenter might just be the perfect midnight movie, especially as the cold tightens its grip around the city’s neck. This claustrophobic film is full of some delicious gore (all practical effects) and some great moments of revolting terror as The Thing assimilates the trapped researchers of this Antarctic expedition.

SUNDAY

Bottomless Mimosas with Frisky Frolics Roux (Louisville) No Cover; 10 a.m. Not too many things can warm your bones in this winter weather, but bottomless mimosas with your Sunday brunch might do the trick. Roux, the New Orleans-inspired restaurant, will be breaking out a special brunch menu this weekend that includes $10 Bottomless Mimosas and plenty of cajun-inspired breakfast dishes. There will also be live music by Rick Quisol and the Frisky Frolics.
