From fall festivals to comedy, wine, and music, here are 10 exciting activities for a fun, crowd-free weekend.

Author’s Trace THURSDAY, SEPT. 19 Carmichael’s | 2720 Frankfort Ave. | Free | 7 p.m. Kentucky author Wes Blake’s daringly structured *Pineville Trace* is a novella in three parts, with episodes that only sometimes resemble chapters, but have all the flavor of thoughtfully downplayed flash fiction. Carmichael’s Bookstore is hosting Blake, in conversation with two local figures from the arts scene: Erik Rust (who gave *Pineville Trace* its evocative cover) and versatile veteran author David Dominé. An Intimate Outdoor Concert with Paula Cole THURSDAY, SEPT. 19 Mallard Hall Estate | 6:30 – 9:30 p.m. | $389-489 Catch Grammy-winner Paula Cole in an intimate outdoor concert at Mallard Hall Estate. With less than 175 tickets available, this exclusive event promises a unique VIP experience. Guests can enjoy signature drinks, heavy hors d’oeuvres, and access to the estate grounds. The evening also includes valet parking, a meet and greet with Paula Cole, and access to authorized merchandise. This is her only Kentucky stop on her current tour.
After Hours at Speed FRIDAY, SEPT. 20 Speed Art Museum | 2035 S. 3rd St. | $20 | 5 – 10 p.m. Speed Art Museum’s After Hours event offers an evening packed with art, music, and more. Enjoy live music by Piper Madison, a gallery talk with curator Kim Spence, and art-making activities. Your ticket also includes access to Yayoi Kusama’s Infinity Mirrored Room, but arrive early for a chance to secure a timed spot. The night wraps up with a Louisville Silent Disco featuring DJ Springbreak and DJ AK. Food and drinks will be available from Marigold Catering.
Steve Martin & Martin Short: “The Dukes of Funnytown” FRIDAY, SEPT. 20 The Louisville Palace | 625 S. 4th St. | $99+ | 8 p.m. Comedy legends Steve Martin and Martin Short bring their signature blend of humor to Louisville with “The Dukes of Funnytown.” Expect a night of stand-up, musical numbers, and plenty of banter between the two icons. Known for their dynamic on-stage chemistry, this show promises plenty of laughs and surprises as they reflect on their careers and entertain with their trademark wit.

Latin Music Awards SATURDAY, SEPT. 21 4th St. Live | $50+ | 8 p.m. The annual Latin Music Awards in Louisville celebrates Kentucky’s top Latin music artists, bringing together people of all ages and cultures. Along with honoring the best in Latin music, the event awards scholarships to Latino college students from local universities. Expect a night filled with diverse musical styles and a celebration of community and talent.
Plein Air Pastels in the Gardens SATURDAY, SEPT. 21 & SUNDAY, SEPT. 22 Waterfront Botanical Gardens | 1435 Frankfort Ave. | $60-75 | 1 – 4 p.m. Join artist Rhonda Goodall for a two-day workshop on using soft pastels.
