Kusama: Infinity Mirror opens at Speed FRIDAY, JULY 12 Speed Art Museum | 2035 S. 3rd St. | speedmuseum.org The Speed Art Museum presents Yayoi Kusama: Infinity Mirrored Room– LET’S SURVIVE FOREVER, one of the artist’s seminal immersive artworks that explores ideas of “self-obliteration” through repetition and play with space, light, color, and time. INFINITY MIRRORED ROOM — LET’S SURVIVE FOREVER (2017), which is on special loan from the Art Gallery of Ontario, envelops the visitor inside a large, mirrored space with stainless steel balls suspended from the ceiling and arranged on the floor. The reflective balls recall Kusama’s installation Narcissus Garden, which was first shown at the 1966 Venice Biennale. This presentation will mark the first time that a major Kusama artwork has ever been on view in Kentucky.

Astrology Ball at Pigment Gallery SATURDAY, JULY 13 Enjoy an enchanting evening under the stars at Louisville’s very first Astrology Ball. Flea Off Market Record & Gear Swap SATURDAY, JULY 13

The Flea Off Market is hosting a special event on Saturday, July 13. Situated indoors in the air-conditioned gymnasium at the Highlands Community Campus in the Germantown neighborhood, the Flea Records and Gear Show will feature vendors selling vinyl albums, musical instruments, and gear alongside music-related collectibles, clothing, and ephemera. One hour of “early bird” shopping will begin at 11:00 a.m. for $10 admission, and then the event will be free from 12:00 a.m.– 6:00 p.m. The regularly scheduled Flea Off Market will at the same address. Buy Local Fair SATURDAY, JULY 13 Iroquois Park The Louisville Independent Business Alliance (LIBA) will host the South Points Buy Local Fair on Saturday, July 13th from 12n-4pm near the Iroquois Amphitheater. The Fair is presented by UofL Health Mary & Elizabeth Hospital and is aimed at encouraging locals to find diversity and adventure in South Louisville and will feature close to 50 South Louisville independent businesses, fun music, health screenings, a kid’s area, a silent auction, food, and local libations. Admission and parking are free, and Louisville Water Company will be providing ice-cold water, so bring your water bottle.
Clairvoyance and Ink SATURDAY, JULY 13 Aurora Gallery and Boutique | 1264 S. Kusama: Infinity Documentary SUNDAY, JULY 14 Speed Art Museum | 2035 S. 3rd St. | speedmuseum.org | Free | 12:30 p.m. See enigmatic and controversial artist Yayoi Kusama at work in this documentary directed by Heather Lenz. The documentary recounts the young artist as she tries to make her entry into the New York Art Scene and chronicles the troubled life of the prolific artist whose work spans multiple genres and mediums. The film is being shown in conjunction with the opening of Kusama’s Infinity Mirrored Room: “Let’s Survive Forever,” which goes on view July 12.
