Matt Hutchison & The Big ‘Gin and more!

Free; 9 p.m. Singer/Songwriter Matt Hutchinson and his trio, The Big ‘Gin, are coming in all the way from Baltimore to play at Mag Bar on Monday with Louisville’s own “doom funk,” band, Dead Room Cult, as well as the Louisville-based indie-rock band, Grackle.

TUESDAY

5K Ice Cream Social Iroquois Park
$3; 6:30 p.m.
This isn’t your average social gathering. This social starts with a quick three-mile run (or jog or walk)) through gorgeous Iroquois Park and ends with an all-you-can-eat ice cream-binge party. I mean, what could be better after a short run than soft serve ice cream? Registration happens at the race so show up early.

Keep Louisville Loud with Softspoken and more! Highlands Tap Room Free; 10 p.m. Keep Louisville Loud, the Louisville radio show dedicated to keeping Louisville’s rock scene alive and well is hosting a show at Highlands Tap Room. This week, they have musical acts by the post-hardcore band, Soft-spoken, and the indie-rock band, Ghost Bomb.

WEDNESDAY

Mr. Clit and the Pink Cigarettes, Boner City and more! Cure Lounge $3; 9 p.m. The punk band, Mr. Clit and the Pink Cigarettes, are in town to play what they describe as “gross” music. Accompanying them is the always-arousing punk band, Boner City, and fuzz-pop band Tyconn$ of Teen.

THURSDAY

Rye Back Porch Session with Brenda and more! Rye Free with RSVP; 7 p.m. Get the weekend started early at Rye with free music by shotgun-house rock band, Brenda, garage-rock/fuzz blues band, Discount Guns, and rock band, Legs Akimbo. And as if that isn’t enough, there will also be an after party at Galaxie bar, with music by GlitterTitz DJs at 11 p.m.

Free; Noon
Don’t eat another bland lunch at your desk: Head over to the KFC Yum! Center where there will be a free concert by The Joe Dunn Band, and a number of food trucks, including Get It On A Bun At Booty’s, Boo Boo Smoke Shack and more.

Boudain, Nest, Freddie Was A Boxer and more!

Free; 9 p.m. Plenty of live music this Thursday at Mag Bar, with acts by the stoner/groove band Boudain, the doom-crusted noise band, NEST, indie-rock band, Shawn Sleeps Naked, and the post-grunge band, Freddie Was A Boxer.
Spalding at 21c: Voice and Vision
21c Museum Hotel
Free; 6 p.m.
21c Museum Hotel has partnered with Spalding University to present Voice and Vision, a night of open-mic presentations of works in progress (1 to 2 minute readings) by “writers from all area universities, community writers’ groups, Spalding alumni, and independent writers.”

FRIDAY

Space Traitors and more! Mag Bar Free; 9 p.m. Seriously, the live music at Mag Bar never stops! This time around it’s a punk night, with some “wrestlecore pop punk” by The Razor Ramones, “weird punk” by Living Creature, “pop punk from Outer Space” by Space Traitors and some punk by Dick Titty Blood Punch (the name tells you all you need to know).

Jesus Christ Superstar by RiverPops

Free; 7 p.m. Jesus Christ Superstar takes the story of Jesus and makes it into a flamboyant and wonderful rock opera. Chances are you’ve already seen the movie version from the 70s, but seeing it live on a stage is a whole other experience. So treat yourself this Friday with a play on the Indiana riverfront.
