Yared Nuguse has made history again, setting a new indoor mile world record at the 2025 Millrose Games. The Louisville native clocked an astounding 3:47.22, beating the previous record of 3:47.38 established by Jakob Ingebrigtsen in 2022, a difference of .15 seconds.
The race at The Armory in New York City saw Nuguse seize control early, maintaining a hearty pace before surging ahead in the last lap.
Nuguse, an Olympic medalist and Notre Dame alumnus, has been a strong force in American distance running. In 2023, he set the American record in the mile and followed it up with incredible showings on the global stage.
