The Louisville Master Chorale’s 2025–2026 season begins with Of Gods and Gifts on Sunday, October 19, at 3 p.m. at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 1920 Newburg Road.

The program includes music by Johannes Brahms, Elaine Hagenburg, and Jake Runestad, and it mixes old and new. Some of the best parts are Brahms’ Schicksalslied, which is often called “the Little Requiem” because it sounds like his German Requiem; Hagenburg’s beautiful Illuminare; and Runestad’s heartbreaking A Silence Haunts Me, which was inspired by Beethoven’s sad letter to his brother about his deafness.

The Louisville Master Chorale said in a press release that this concert takes you on a strong and personal musical journey through themes of fate, inspiration, and the difficulties of being creative.

Tickets cost $30, but students can get a discount. Kids in first grade or younger can go for free with a parent or guardian. You can buy tickets in advance at www.louisvillemasterchorale.org.
