The Louisville Metro Fire Department has responded to an explosion in the Clifton neighborhood on the 1900 block of Payne St. after a large explosion that could be heard and felt as far as Oldham County, according to local residents.
The explosion, believed to have occurred at Givaudan Sense Colour plant, is said to contain hazardous materials.
MetroSafe confirmed to LEO Weekly that a large explosion took place at about 3 p.m., and has advised for the public to stay away from the area in a one-mile radius.
According to emergency services, the fire is considered a “hazardous materials incident,” with a shelter in place taking effect for a one-mile radius.
