Tuesday, Nov. 5 was Election Day in Kentucky and across the United States. Donald Trump has successfully garnered enough electoral votes to secure the presidency for a second time. This win comes after he seemingly faked a sex act with a microphone, and held a rally where a comedian called Puerto Rico, an American territory, “a floating island of garbage.”
Amendments We Watched For In Kentucky
Two amendments were on the ballot this year. One of which was a requirement of citizenship to vote. It passed 62.4% to 37.6% in favor of the amendment. This is notable because it is already illegal for a non-citizen to vote in any election.
The next, Amendment 2, would allow state funding for non-public education in Kentucky. It failed with the vote of “No” at 64.8% to “Yes” at 35.2%.
