FRIDAY

Kentucky State Fair (Aug. 18–28)
Kentucky Exposition Center
$10 | 7 a.m. It’s that time of the year again, time for a few days of fair-style fun. Which includes seeing all of the adorable farm animals, drooling all over the amazing baked goods, judging all of the contest winners like you know what you’re talking about and, of course, being shady while people watching.

Mapped Out
Garage Bar
Free | 6 p.m. Louisville Visual Art wants to fill your neighborhood with beautiful murals, but they need your help! So head down to Garage Bar where a number of local visual artists will be live-painting 8ft x 8ft murals that will then be put up for silent auction to fund this new program. And as with any good event, there will also be plenty of food and drink.

SATURDAY

“Top Gun” themed Butchertown Get Down
Louis’s “The Ton”
Free with RSVP | 11 p.m. Prepare to enter the Danger Zone this weekend with the Butchertown Get Down, a weekly movie-themed dance party at Louis’s “The Ton”. And this week’s cinematic-inspiration is the macho-charged love tale of two jet fighter pilots in “Top Gun.” DJ JP Source will be spinning a “Top Gun”-inspired set throughout the night while the film is projected on the wall.

Karass final performance with Shadowpact, Visiting Nurse
Galaxie / OUTERSpace
$5 | 9 p.m. Karass is a “moody quasi-electronic weirdo rock” band that has been playing in Louisville for the past eight years. But this weekend, they will be putting the band to rest, and they want to go out with a bang. So join Karass, the hip-hop group Shadowpact, and visual synth band Visiting Nurse to celebrate the musical journey of this great local band.

SUNDAY
