Building songs this experimental and strange and piercing, while maintaining a core ability to sweep you in with an undercurrent of affable and wild guitar riffs, unhinged drumming and unique vocal work, makes the noise-punk of Wrong Songs a compelling roller coaster ride. Harpy the solo project of musician/artist Yoko Molotov is an eccentric crossroads between frantic, unfiltered energy and an instrumental prowess that holds everything together. From the driving, distorted and ominous qualities of Bury Me Alive to the atmospheric doom of Black Teeth Royalty, Wrong Songs is, other than the last song, a more compact record than a lot of experimental projects, and its all the better for it.
