Two is the second in an anthology series helmed by the prolific William Ragland. Although entirely instrumental and ambient, the track titles, album name and overall mood seem to imply a narrative, a particularly nebulous and ominous one. There are a lot of moving parts here, in the ephemeral drones that permeate C:CT or the occasional glimpses of light — a very bleak, winter sunset type of light — that flicker in and out of existence, as manifested by intermittent beats or ghostly vocal samples. The instrumentation seems difficult to identify, as the sounds produced could easily come from a guitar, keyboard, voice or stringed instrument, given just how affected everything is. Know this is gloomy, appropriate for an album that dropped at the twilight of the year, when it’s darker outside more often than bright.
