Moonlight Screening with Talkback The Floyd Theater $3 | 5 and 8 p.m. If youve already seen Black Panther, and you’re looking for other notable films starring people of color, join The Floyd Theater for its series Black Films Matter. This Friday features a screening of Moonlight, followed by a discussion of the film after the 5 p.m. show. And on Feb. 24, the series ends with the film Straight Outta Compton, at 2 and 5 p.m.

The Sixth Annual Gravy Cup Benefitting Boys & Girls Haven Mellwood Art Center, Van Gogh Room $15 | 11 a.m.-2 p.m. The sixth annual Gravy Cup will once again determine who makes the best biscuits and gravy. Organizers boast it is the #1 Biscuit and Gravy competition in the United States. Thats good enough for us you had us at biscuits and gravy. If youve got the winning recipe, youre welcome to throw your gravy into the ring, as this event is for pro chefs and home chefs. And if youre just a consumer, you get to try them all. Local celebrity judges will determine the winners of the traditional, nontraditional and vegan competitions. There will be live music and a cash bar. spreadLOVE Presents… Kentucky Center $10 | 10 p.m. SpeadLOVE is bringing 10 nights of arts entertainment to Louisville over the next 10 months. Each show includes one skit or stand-up comedy act and one local spotlight with a poet or musician. The first show is this Saturday, with local comedian Austin Rich and local music act Otis and The Jesse Lees. And at every show, expect DJ Bombshell to keep the energy up in between performances.
Mellwood Spring Art Show (Feb. 2425) Mellwood Art Center Free | 11 a.m.-6 p.m. As I write this, its 60 degrees outside, warm enough to think the Mellwood Spring Art Show isnt toying with us. This second-annual juried show has it all: art, music, food, indoor toilets and parking. Over 50 local artists will be selling their wares, and Karl Otto and Renda Writer will create art live. Fleur de Lis Ballet Academy and Cirque Louis will perform. Food vendors include Long Shot Lobsta, Bristol Bar & Grill and Steel City Pops. Jo Anne Triplett

Louisville Socialists General Assembly: Working Groups Louisville Free Public Library, Downtown Free | 2 p.m. The self-described goal of Louisville Socialists is to dismantle oppressive systems of racism, sexism, and capitalism within our city. The political-organization has called a General Assembly for Sunday to form working groups and subcommittees to tackle the problems the working class face in greater Louisville, with the aim of building working class power,” and “All committed to this vision are welcome.”
