Americans for the Arts is asking all individual artists and arts organizations to get their own free Dun & Bradstreet number. Since 2004, Americans for the Arts has produced the “Creative Industries: Business & Employment in the Arts” report. Research uses Dun & Bradstreet data to document the number (for example, the January 2006 survey states that Kentucky Congressional District 3 has 1,344 arts-related businesses employing 7,263 people). Louisville Visual Art Association Executive Director Sarah Yates has resigned to become creative director of the exhibit design firm Solid Light. LVAA’s has named Marcia Boone interim director.

Actors Theatre is honoring 11 “Women with Spunk” on Dec. 9, including artists Elmer Lucille Allen, Mary Craik and Nana Yaa Asantewaa. Craik recently received the Tachau Gender Equity Award from the Women’s Center at the University of Louisville.
