Amid a weekend filled with powerhouse sets and genre-defying performances, Ole 60 made a lasting impression at Railbird Festival 2025. The Kentucky-based rising country act brought a dose of unfiltered Southern authenticity to Lexington, delivering a set that was both emotionally raw and musically tight — signaling their arrival as one of the region’s most promising new bands.
For lead singer Jacob “Ty” Young, the performance was more than just another gig. “We got to play on the stage that I grew up watching,” Young shared. “It was an overwhelming feeling but one I’ll never forget.”
From the first strum, Ole 60 commanded the crowd with a blend of heartfelt storytelling and gritty edge. Tracks like “Next to You” and “Nancy Avenue” resonated deeply, pairing tight harmonies with a band dynamic that felt as intuitive as it was electric. Their set didn’t feel like a festival performance — it felt like a homecoming. And for Ole 60, that feeling marked a significant milestone. “This was definitely a milestone moment for us,” Young said. “Myself and one of our guitar players made a bucket list and we were able to check ‘Playing Railbird’ off of it.”
But Railbird was just the beginning. The band is set to hit the road with stops across the country — including several key performances back home in Kentucky, like shows in Beaver Dam and Pineville, and a highly anticipated slot closing out the Kentucky State Fair in Louisville. “There was no hesitation when we were asked to play the Kentucky State Fair,” Young explained. “I think we are the last night and the fact that we get to close out the week-long fair is something super special and something we’re really looking forward to.”
Beyond live shows, Ole 60 is also focused on creating new music. “We’re working on new songs and projects that don’t really have a timeline,” Young revealed. “But we’re also playing some really cool shows at Red Rocks and the Ryman.” While the Railbird Festival lineup was packed with headliners, Ole 60 carved out a moment all their own — proving that some of the most impactful performances come from artists still on the rise. With heart, grit, and a sound that hits home, Ole 60 is a band worth keeping an eye on. They don’t just play music — they build a connection. And if Railbird was any indication, their climb is only just beginning.
