Gordon Biersch Brewery Restaurant at Fourth Street Live! has closed permanently after 13 years. The German-inspired brewpub opened in 2012 and had a 500-seat location in downtown Louisville’s entertainment district. It was known for its on-site brewery and made-from-scratch California-style food.

With this closure, Gordon Biersch now has only one standalone restaurant left, located in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. The company still operates several restaurants in airports across the country and in Taiwan.

Earlier this year, Locos, a Latin-inspired restaurant and nightclub at Fourth Street Live!, also closed, citing low foot traffic as a reason. These closures raise questions about the future of Fourth Street Live! as a place for dining and nightlife in Louisville.

City officials and business owners are watching closely to see how the area will recover and change after the pandemic.
