August is here, and even with the back-to-school season in full swing, there are still tons of fun events taking place this month. Perfect for date nights, family fun nights, or an evening out with friends, here are 15 of the best things to do in Louisville this August.


Margaritas In The Ville Thursday, August 1 LEO Weekly and El Jimador are teaming up for a day filled with the best margaritas you’ll find in Louisville. With live music, great food and good competition, this fun event is promising to be one of the biggest yet. Tickets to the event get you samples of all margaritas and appetizers. You can cast your ballot to crown this year’s People’s Choice Best Margarita champion.
The Savannah Bananas Thursday-Saturday, August 1-3 The Savannah Bananas are coming to Louisville’s Slugger Field! Rising to fame on social media, the Savannah Bananas will perform an exciting choreographed routine each night complete with dancing, flips, and tricks that fans are sure to love. Jazz Fest Friday-Saturday, August 2-3 Head out to the Iroquois Amphitheater for two awesome days filled with jazz music. With so many great featured artists, there’s going to be great performances.
Speed’s Cat Video Fest Friday, August 2-8 August marks the beginning of Cat Video Fest, the silliest but most adorable festival you’ll ever find. Speed Art Museum is hosting the Cat Video Fest from Friday, Aug. 2 to Thursday, Aug. 8 including a compilation of the latest and best cat videos that have been pulled in from hours of submissions and animations, music videos plus classic internet memes from years gone by. Local theaters across the country including Speed will partner with cat-focused charities, animal welfare organizations and shelters to give portions of ticket prices to these partners.
Black Chef Showcase Sunday, August 18 Come support Western High School’s Culinary Program by attending Louisville’s Black Chef Showcase. Here, you’ll be able to taste a variety of delicious dishes made by some of the best culinary talents Louisville has to offer.
Heritage Fire Tour Saturday, August 4 The Heritage Fire Tour unites live-fire cooking, family farms, and local chefs in diverse destinations. The all-inclusive walk-around feast features thoughtful bites prepared by some of the most critically acclaimed kitchens, with products from locally sourced farms and sponsors. After indulging in each dish, guests can vote for their favorite bite of the day. Women’s Soccer Cup Friday, August 9 & Tuesday, August 13 Soccer fans, you don’t want to miss this year’s Women’s Soccer Cup held at Lynn Family Stadium. Caufield’s Creepfest Saturday, August 10 Get in the Halloween spirit with Caufield’s Creepfest. This event in historic West Main Street will feature over 20 vendors with all-things horror and creepy themed. There will also be an adults and pets costume contest, so start thinking of the perfect costume you or your furry friend could wear.
Kentucky State Fair Thursday-Sunday, August 15-25 The Kentucky State Fair is back for the 120th year! Through various exhibits showcasing all of Kentucky’s culture, art, agriculture, and more, you can get a taste of what our amazing state has to offer. Louisville Wing Week Monday-Sunday, August 19-25 Louisville is home to some great spots for tasty wings, and with Louisville Wing Week coming up, you can try some unique wings for just $8. During this week, restaurants will be cooking up wings in secret sauces, and some may even have secret menu specialties only available during Wing Week. Wing-lovers, you don’t want to miss this!
Louisville PopCon Friday-Sunday, August 23-25 Calling all pop culture fans! This exciting event is for you. The 2nd annual Louisville PopCon will include anime, board games, cosplay, fan panels and more, it’s something you don’t want to miss.
Brew at the Zoo Saturday, August 24 This annual Zoo fundraiser event will boast live music, drink tastings from craft breweries, live music, a silent disco, and of course, exciting animal encounters. This fundraising event supports animal care and Zoo projects.
American Whiskey Festival Saturday, August 31 The 2nd annual American Whiskey Festival will be held at Norton Common’s North Village Square, and will have a variety of food trucks, live music, whiskey samples, and other tasty beverages for adults to enjoy.
WorldFest Friday, August 30-Monday, September 2 Head down to the Belvedere to experience one of the region’s largest international festivals, Louisville;s WorldFest. There will be nearly 150 international booths with items such as art pieces, crafts, merchandise, and food. For more than 20 years, this festival has showcased and celebrated various cultures from around the world.
