A PRIDE MONTH PRODUCTION REIMAGINING SHAKESPEARE’S LEGACY
In Gender Play, or what you Will?, Will Wilhelm invites us to an impromptu party to celebrate their new friendship with one of the oldest and queerest playwrights, William Shakespeare! Together, audience and performers will embark on a wild, genre-bending journey to rediscover the queer brilliance hiding in plain sight within the Bard’s works—full of gender-fluid glory in a mystical evening of joy, laughter, tarot, and self-discovery.

“We’re so excited to kick off the Summer with three events that celebrate the importance of creative self-expression,” says Interim Artistic Director Amelia Acosta Powell. “The Tony Awards Watch party will be a joyful night of gathering to celebrate excellence in theatre as well as a chance to see sneak preview performances of our season over the commercial breaks. Next, audiences are in for a real treat with GENDER PLAY, OR WHAT YOU WILL co-created by Will Wilhelm and Erin Murray, performed by Will Wilhelm, and directed by Actors Theatre of Louisville’s Interim Managing Director Emily Tarquin (who recently delighted our community with Won’t you be my May-bor?). This play, which has received critical acclaim during its run in Indianapolis, welcomes all for an unforgettable evening of partying with Shakespeare. And wrapping up the month of June, a new generation of creatives take the stage with New Voices. Led by UNIVERSES for the third year in a row, the culminating performance of the teen summer intensive will inspire with original music and spoken word.”

Tickets for the Tony Awards Watch Party are now on sale to the public. Alternatively, tickets to Gender Play, or what you Will? and the New Voices Showcase are currently on sale to members at www.actorstheatre.org and will be available to non-members beginning Thursday, April 24.
