Remember that awesome Van Gogh exhibit at the Indianapolis Museum of Art at Newfields in Indy? Well, this year Newfields is taking THE LUME on a trip with the beautiful impressionism of Claude Monet. Water Lilies as big as your Grandpa’s head.

Just a short trip up the road and local residents can experience the latest multisensory immersive art exhibit at THE LUME theater at Newfields. The LUME Indianapolis featuring Monet and Friends Alive is opening to the public July 3. 

Why am I telling you now? Because you’ll want to get your tickets as early as possible. COVID restrictions are mostly a thing of the past, which means people will be ready to get out and experience as much as possible this summer. 

With 30,000 square feet, this is one of the largest immersive digital exhibits of its kind. “Floor-to-ceiling” digital art, music and more.

According to a press release, here are the features of the Monet multi-sensory exhibit:

  • The final gallery will feature original paintings, drawings and sculptures from notable Impressionists including Cassatt, Cézanne, Manet, Monet, Degas, and more. 
  • A “Monet and Play” interpretation room with a selfie station, a robust wall timeline and interactive coloring mural activity
  • Monet-inspired French café complete with specialty cocktails, sweet treats and small bites
  • A life-sized recreation of the famed bridge from Bridge over a Pond of Water Lilies (1899)
"THE LUME is committed to rotating its content annually and it remains the largest permanent immersive display of its type," according to the press release. "In the first year, over 240,000 people visited the LUME for the Van Gogh show. Tickets go on sale soon…June 7. Ready? It’s only a bit over a week away."
