On “The generation lacking ‘soft skills’”

As an HR professional, the survey and the pointing out of lack of soft skills is on point. I put the accountability of teaching the youth these skills to the community as a whole, starting with the parents, the schools, churches and any other local outreach program. Kids need to be inundated with information on how important “the little things” and first impressions are. I myself am trying to get a workshop started at my church mainly focused on high school and college aged adults. I just want them to know those skills. A mix of those, education and work ethic will make a person successful, or at least open the door for opportunity to them. —Greg E Fernanda Tripure, Aug. 31

On “Donald Trump and the dumbing of America”

Not a Trump fan, but he does distill issues down to their essence. The government has become a complex web that needs simplification, and someone needs to emerge (and I truly hope it’s not Trump) that can trim the fat and keep the lean.

On “Donald Trump and the dumbing of America”

I confess, there is something about Trump I like, maybe it’s his honesty. When he said McCain was only a hero because he was caught, that was true, and it cracked me up. Yes, he’s arrogant, rich and maybe not the brightest bulb in the lamp. Nevertheless, this nation isn’t known for rewarding smart people, it lives on spectacle. Great article Dr. Jones. —Yusef Abdullah Bilal Ali, Aug. 29

On “Donald Trump and the dumbing of America”

I’ve stayed silent on this whole freak show because it’s no longer comical. I just figure that “the Donald” will be exposed for the idiot he truly is as the election cycle continues. Continue to hammer him on SPECIFICS and watch that dead animal on his head have a seizure. This is the one chance where the media can actually do the job of asking the hard questions. Then again, Trump being named the Republican nominee can be the best thing to ever happen to Democrats IF and only if they have a viable candidate (Sanders) and voter turnout meets or exceeds 2008 levels. Then again, the American electorate has been exposed for years, so none of this is surprising in the least. —Mark E. Gunn, Aug. 28

On “Donald Trump and the dumbing of America”

Trump and Sanders tap into the angst of those who have yet to recover from the recession, and those who have no chance to achieve the “American Dream” once promised to them.

on “Three writers and a photographer recap the Seven Sense Festival”

Nothing was mentioned about the Nashville bands that were there. Sol Cat really impressed me with alternative rock sound.
