Shut the door

“What is popular is not always right. What is right is not always popular.”

This adage crept into my skull like a WFPK earworm last week when I read that Universal Republic’s 3 Doors Down had topped the Billboard 200 chart, lending credence to the possibility that 11.4 million people (the number of records the band has sold since 2000) can be wrong. Sigh. At least “American Idol” is over.

Brick House moves a step toward solvency

The Brick House, the all-ages venue/collective on South Second Street, has paid its overdue bills and its mortgage is no longer in default, according to a MySpace posting by the organization last month.

The group is working on paying its current utility and mortgage payments, and is still hosting all-ages shows. The Brick House needs 100 sustaining members who can pledge a ridiculously low $5 a month.

Remember, there isn’t a formal membership roll at the Brick House. A member constitutes anyone who “participates in any activity at the Brick House: the concerts, free school classes, pot lucks, bicycle workshops, radio, etc.” Read more at www.brickhouse.cc, or at myspace.com/oldbrickhouse.
