Stormy math rock thats doused in unpredictable post-punk, keeping your attention through dramatic building and falling, The Mechanical Hearts EP is a puzzle of layers and rhythms that are as precise as they are gritty. The opener forfeit/ascend rises to levels of fiery psych-rock that sounds like The Clash trying to emulate Pink Floyd, and then swoops down into a barebones basement of clean guitar and ominous vocals. The title tracks dark grooves, screeching lead guitar and spirited vocals make it one of the EPs strongest. But, its their oddball punk/indie/almost-metal disposition that makes their work shine.
