Staff Writer

LEO Weekly, an alternative weekly in Louisville, Kentucky, since 1990, is seeking a full-time staff writer who can do it all. The ideal candidate is passionate about finding and telling stories that captivate readers and break news. Knowledge of Louisville and Kentucky is helpful, but not required for quick learners. You will write long-form cover stories, shorter news and feature stories and breaking news for the web. You must excel at uncovering patterns and trends and generating ideas for stories that provoke change, surprise, amuse and even shock. You must have a distinctive writing voice, a sense of humor and the creativity to deliver stories in unique ways. Have a strong understanding of journalism, including superior spelling, grammar and punctuation skills. You must be accurate and know how to write with a point of view, while being fair. Multimedia experience and a large following on social media are pluses. We are less interested in your years of experience than we are about what you have done so far, and your potential for growth. You must be comfortable with the culture and attitude of an alt-weekly that for decades has told stories no one else will. Account Executive
