After months of renovations, the beloved 1970s-themed bar reopens June 20 at its new East Market Street location with a refreshed focus and familiar spirit

High Horse Bar will reopen this Friday, June 20, at 2:00 p.m. at a new NuLu venue at 810 E. Market Street following a brief closure and months of preparation.
“We’re excited to open our doors in NuLu. It feels like the perfect home for High Horse,” said Humphrey. “This new chapter lets us keep everything people loved about the original bar while bringing something different to the NuLu neighborhood. We can’t wait to welcome everyone back.”
Previously in Butchertown, the tavern revealed its intentions to move last fall. The relocation follows five years on Story Avenue and a split with its old landlord. Together with partner James Wise, co-owners Dennie Humphrey and Brian Goodwin secured the East Market Street building—formerly home to Gray Market Design and the Dreamland music venue.
The craft beer festival will feature over 50 Kentucky breweries serving more than 175 different beers
Although the new location provides a space roughly in line with the original, the idea behind the bar has changed. High Horse will now concentrate more on furnishing a laid-back, bar-centric atmosphere than on staging live music.
