June 20 is World Refugee Day, an internationally-observed day dedicated to raising awareness of refugee situations around the world. Here, in Louisville, refugee advocates are marking it with a variety of events. Kentucky Refugee Ministries is hosting a week-long festival that is the culmination of an arts program called “We Create: Artists and Refugees Celebrate Making Louisville Home.” The festival consists of multiple pop-up art shows, all featuring refugee stories through the lens of local artists of different disciplines. Check KRM’s Facebook event’s page for more details. Catholic Charities of Louisville is hosting a celebration on June 21 at Shawnee Park from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The party will include international food, cultural performances and a soccer game.
