‘Works Of May’
By Jordan Humbert

Llamas are possibly the most magical mammals on the planet (ligers are a close second). You need to look no further than the work of Jordan Humbert who has focused on llamas over the last five years. Though the subject is the same, his approaches and media are vast — from realistic to abstract and sometimes both in the same piece. Of this new series he said, “I worked fast, and moved from piece to piece with little time for reflection. I limited my materials to graphite, charcoal, white and black oil, and a few other odds and ends.  What emerged was a body of work that has a movement and energy that can only come from working in such a ferocious manner.” Join the artist on Friday, June 7 from 6 to 10 p.m. for an opening reception. —J.
