Volunteer On Thanksgiving

On Thanksgiving, Wayside Christian Mission serves breakfast, lunch and dinner to those in need, and they want volunteers for each meal. You can show up as early as 4:30 a.m. to be there for breakfast at 7, or you can wait until around 5 p.m., when dinner starts. Volunteers are asked to bring their ID.

For the fifth year in a row, The Silver Dollar is partnering with Kentucky Refugee Ministries to provide a Thanksgiving meal and celebration for 250 refugees living in Louisville. Food donations, particularly side dishes, bread and desserts (halal is preferred) are needed, as well as cold weather items in all sizes and car/booster seats, which can be dropped off from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday. Food and clothing donations will be accepted until Thursday afternoon. Email silverdollarthanksgiving@gmail.com to sign up.

The Salvation Army’s Angel Tree program provides Christmas presents to those in need. Volunteers are needed to man Angel Tree Adoption Booths throughout the holiday season, including on Thanksgiving. You can sign up for shifts at Louisville malls and Krogers at louisvillevolunteer.org. —LEO
