If popular culture is to be believed,
polo is an exclusive sport for wealthy people who have enough spare cash to buy a horse and enough spare time to learn how to play this difficult game. Maybe that’s true, or maybe it isn’t (it is). Either way, it’s damn impressive to watch someone maneuver a 1,000-pound animal, while simultaneously whacking a fist-size ball into a net, with a stick. And you can see it all for free this Thursday, as the Louisville Polo Club plays a night match, complete with food, margaritas and beer by The Ville Taqueria and bourbon by Jefferson Bourbon. Just be sure to bring your chairs and blankets for this night event.
