Thanksgiving is upon us — the one day when you won’t be judged for nearly passing out because you forgot to breath in between shovelfuls of stuffing. But if you are looking to counteract your gluttony, then one of these Turkey Trots is for you.

This Turkey Trot has something for everybody. Serious runners can compete for trophies in male and female categories of the 10K and 5K. Runners can deposit their kids in the free childcare area. And parents with really little kids (ages 10 and under) can take the tikes on the Kids Trot. Everyone gets a T-shirt, giveaways from local organizations and plenty of post-run snacks.

The Louisville Hungry Turkey 5K might be the prettiest turkey trot in Louisville, since the course starts on the Great Lawn and weaves runners through nearly all of Waterfront Park. And at the end, runners will be greeted at the finish line with hot cinnamon rolls! Day-of registration is possible, but participants are encouraged to do so as early as possible and to arrive ready to run.
