Studio 2000 is alive and kicking again, thanks to Metro Parks and Recreation, Louisville Visual Art and the Kentucky Center. After many years of lying fallow, the program once again lets budding artists aged 14–18 get the chance to stick their hands in clay, engage with fiber and work with mixed media. Professional artists teach the eight-week summer session; this year’s teachers are Sunny Ra (mixed media), Ehren Reed (fiber) and J.D. Schall (ceramics). It’s now time for the exhibition, reception and sale of the artwork by the 18 students in the program. All proceeds go to ensure there will be additional Studio 2000 “learn and earn” sessions in the future.
