Some of the best gifts I’ve ever given were purchased at the St. James Court Art Show, like this exquisite hand-soldered metal and stained glass kaleidoscope that I gave to my sister when she was in college. I’ve bought some cool art for my house there too, like these whimsical photographs of miniature figurines interacting with life-size objects. In one of the pictures hanging in my kitchen, two tiny ladies stand on a colossal-seeming donut that they’re “icing” with little mops. There are oodles of exhibitors with rare and enchanting art for sale, but even if you don’t buy anything but a beer to enjoy beside the beautiful St. James fountain, going to the art show is one of the city’s most special annual rituals.
