Speed Art Museum Opening Celebration

Those three years just flew by, didn’t they? The Speed Art Museum is set to reopen after a lengthy renovation and they’re not being quiet about it (for more information on the remodeling, see “The Place of Art,” August 12, 2015, LEO Weekly). To make sure we know they’re back, the Speed is hosting a 30-hour free celebration (10 a.m. Saturday to 4 p.m. Sunday). As expected, there are tours of the museum and art activities, including a mandala by Tibetan Buddhist monks. There will also be films shown in the new cinema, dance by the Louisville Ballet and music by the Louisville Orchestra, Wax Fang and the Louisville Leopard Percussionists, just to name a few of the events. Visit the website for the full list of activities.
