Soprano Jamie Barton has built her reputation by singing some of the great operatic roles. She is also carving out a reputation for her lyrical solo recitals — not just for the quality, but for the material she chooses. For the Speed Concert Series, she has programmed works by Haydn, Ravel and Richard Strauss, and intriguing pieces by composers — including Iain Bell’s “of you,” a setting of poems by e.e. cummings, and a selection of works by women composers.
