This Friday, Bernheim Forest plays host to another excellent event with the first-ever SONICBernheim, which explores the relationship between sound, music and nature. First up is a lecture by composer and educator Allen Anderson of the University of North Carolina. There will be performances by jazz musician and composer Jacob Duncan, multi-instrumentalist and vocalist Dane Waters and an ensemble of youth performers conducted by musician and WUOL educational programs manager Sara Soltau, along with Angela Thomas joining Anderson. What makes this cool is that the venue, Bernheim, is just as much a character in this event as the music, as the inherent beauty of the environment is explored through sound and composition. This is a family-friendly event that promises to engage audiences young and old in finding art in nature.
