We’ll be honest with you — one reason we chose this event is so that we could print the words “Big Bone Lick.” Is it the most immature thing we’ve done? Probably not. But it’s up there. The other reason is because the Salt Festival at Big Bone Lick is legit, featuring “demonstrations of pioneer living and skills, frontier ingenuity, traditions …” You will find handmade and hand-crafted items for sale, good eats and drinks, live bluegrass and folk music and, best of all, a herd of bison. Take a road trip (less than 90 minutes from Louisville), and “listen to a storyteller, view prehistoric Ice Age artifacts, and watch a blacksmith working red-hot iron.”
