In his newest show, “Sacred Stories,” local artist Barry Motes shows us how the power of faith can still manifest into artistic joy. Painting in a style reminiscent of Rene Magritte, Motes reinterprets biblical stories with modern settings while adding his own slightly surrealist twist — each piece contains hidden clues that create the bond between the parable and the image. It’s a fascinating way of expressing religious convictions that never crosses the line into preachy or intrusive and shows that Motes’ work do
