Both Rocky Votolato and Dave Hause have been in the music business for years now, first finding acclaim as members of indie and/or punk bands and later settling into solo careers that are more stripped down and rootsy. Votolato relies on a collected and gentle brand of Americana that sweeps across his records like a chilly breeze, turning straight-forward, yet poetic phrases that build into evocative stories. Hause never quite fully shook his punk roots, still carrying pissed-off lyrics and heavy-handed musicianship.
