A look at the life of Witherspoon (Oscar-winning film multi-hyphenate, book-club promoter, entrepreneur, activist, etc.) begs the question, “How does she do it all?” Answers can be gleaned from her first book, “Whiskey in a Teacup: What Growing Up in the South Taught Me About Life, Love, and Baking Biscuits” — but, thankfully, it isn’t all serious how-to and self-congratulation. There’s grounded humor in her tales of roots in New Orleans and Nashville. These are interspersed with thoughts on fashion/decor and recipes (there’s a Derby party, natch) in a standout version of the sidebar-laden, semi-infographic style of today’s popular coffee-table books. A copy comes with each ticket of the Whitney Hall evening with Witherspoon (accompanied by Sheryl Crow).
