Why We Should Read Frederick Douglass In 2018

Frederick Douglass was a fierce writer and national leader of the abolitionist movement, having escaped from slavery in the 1800s. So, the question should probably be, “Why shouldn’t we read Frederick Douglass in 2018?” But for those who still need some convincing, Nicholas Buccola, the founding director of the Frederick Douglass Forum on Law, Rights and Justice at Linfield College in Oregon, will make the case in this talk, the last for UofL’s McConnell Center in the fall of 2018.
