This is one of the most breathtaking exhibitions you’ll see in Louisville this year, so don’t miss your chance to see it while it’s in town. The show, a stunning collaboration between photographer Jenée Rue Sastry and poet Robin LaMer Rahija, tells what feels like the very real story of a completely fictional town — a story was lost in the shuffle of history. As stated on Zephyr’s website: “The artists seek to recuperate, construct, and mystify a town that wasn’t, through the juxtaposition of found and fabricated image and text documents.” The mixed-media pieces spinning the town’s lore span from stark to emotive and sometimes voyeuristic, as you sympathize, long for and even root for this town that never was to succeed, holding onto the slightest glimmer of hope that you might one day be able to visit.
