You can look at this event in two ways. The first is as a pre-Valentine’s celebration of relationships. I won’t say it’s all about love, even though Goodin insists that he is “offering/the reader/a love letter/as evidence/that it does/exist.” No, with his second volume “Our Story: as I saw it…” this poet’s sweeter side lets in some straight-up acknowledgment to what’s bittersweet in becoming a couple and seeing that tested. And he’s ready to let his vision come through multiple media — this reading/signing includes a pop-up art show of Goodin’s portraits and figures in acrylics and watercolors. You could also view this evening as an excellent opportunity to check out the Jeffersontown venue’s progress toward becoming a destination café and bookstore — with ice cream!
