This weekend, the Speed Art Museum screens “Paris is Burning,” the groundbreaking documentary that dives into the New York ballroom scene, a nightlife center for LGBTQ+ people of color and not to mention show-stopping looks, voguing and family. While featuring icons such as Venus Xtravaganza and Pepper LaBeija, the documentary also grapples with the AIDS crisis and fight against homophobia and transphobia.
