Paint isn’t just pigment and binder anymore. It’s coffee, honey and silver leaf. That’s what contemporary art exhibitions reveal — that painters don’t want to be confined to just paint. “PAINTING I, 2017” is a show of what co-owner Billy Hertz said is “a unique group of regional painters with diverse approaches to individual techniques.” The artists in the Galerie Hertz’s first painting show (note the “1” in the exhibition title) are Brent Dedas, Ken Hayden, John Humphrey, Tom Pfannerstill, David Thomas and Gretchen Treitz.
